HEALTH AND AESTHETICS

What is MCAS?
Mast cells are immune cells that release histamine and other chemical messengers. In mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), recurrent episodes of mediator release can cause symptoms in several body systems, such as flushing, hives, abdominal cramping, diarrhea or wheezing.
These symptoms can have other causes. Diagnosing MCAS requires a careful assessment, laboratory evidence of mast cell activation and a review of response to treatment.
A thoughtful assessment.
We begin with your symptom history, patterns you have noticed and how your concerns affect daily life. We review previous investigations, medications and your response to treatment.
Together, we consider possible explanations for your symptoms, discuss testing when appropriate and identify whether specialist input is needed. Your care plan is individualized and reviewed as we learn more.
